Mongolia’s contribution to Future Earth is primarily through its involvement in Future Earth activities. This committee is very diversified with more than 20 institutions from Academic, policy and non governmental organizations. Main research focuses on issues like climate change impacts on land cover change especially in grassland, biodiversity and nomadic pastoralists well being, water shortage,  and urban environmental pollution with a particular emphasis on air and soil quality. Mongolian researchers, though few, collaborate actively with Future Earth, especially through institutions like Mongolian Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Economy and Development, and non-government organizations.

In addition to FE projects, Mongolia is also addressing human health, urban planning, and climate change through non-FE programs. The key contact in Mongolia is Dr. Suvdantsetseg from the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, and partnerships include various Mongolian academic institutions. With growing environmental challenges, Mongolia’s Future Earth prospects lie in increasing participation from more local researchers and broadening the scope of collaborations.
